澳大利亚艾文豪精英学校上海校区2017年秋季第八周举行了家长信息日。非常惊喜得看到很多家长来到学校，去了解学生们需要做的事情、以及学生们如果努力学习并满足课程要求将会得到的一些机会。

　　This week Ivanhoe Shanghai held a parents’ information session. It was fantastic to see so many parents come to school, learn about what students need to be doing and the opportunities that students will have if they work hard and meet their course requirements.

　　家长们在支持学生的学习中扮演着至关重要的角色。家长们应鼓励学生保持精力集中，持续性得努力以及为自我提升而不断奋斗。学生在学校养成的行为习惯对他们的成绩和将来的选择有直接的影响。不断的要求自己努力学习，为自我提升不断奋斗的学生，将能够充分利用给予他们的机会。没有养成好的习惯或是没有努力学习的学生将很难取得学术成果，同样得到的机会也是有限的。对于家长们，我知道你们都希望自己的孩子是最好的，也希望他们得到多样的机遇。我希望所有的家长都能督促他们的孩子养成良好的习惯，成为优秀的学生。

　　Parents play a vital role in supporting the learning of students. Parents should be encouraging students to maintain focus, continually work hard and strive for improvement. The habits and routines that students develop at school have a direct impact on their outcomes and future options. Those students who constantly apply themselves, work hard and strive for improvement will be able to take advantage of the opportunities that will be presented to them. Those who don’t adopt these habits or fail to work hard will have difficulties in reaching the academic outcomes and will have limited opportunities. As parents I know that you all wish the best for your children and hope that they have multiple opportunities available to them. I hope that all parents push their children to develop these habits and become good learners.

　　在这一周，我们也迎接了来自吉普斯兰精英学校校长的访问。校长David Baker 和表演艺术系主任 Matt Goss 先生来到我们的学校，了解学生们在中国的VCE学习，其中一些学生的优秀语言能力和在课堂中表现的开放性思维给他们留下了非常深刻的印象。两位嘉宾观察了11年级的数学、英语和语文课堂，老师们优秀的教学能力以及学生们良好的学习态度同样让他们印象深刻。　　During the week Ivanhoe Shanghai also received a visit from the Principal of Gippsland Grammar School. Principal David Baker and Head of Performing Arts Mr Matt Goss visited our school to learn about students studying VCE in China, they were greatly impressed by the Language abilities of some of our students and how open-minded students were in the classroom. The two gentlemen observed year 11 Math, English and Chinese classes and were impressed by our teacher’s abilities and the learning attitudes of our students.

　　我们这周的主题是“为自己而努力”，这个主题是用来鼓励每位学生去做他们自己的功课，努力抓住机会去提升自我。同时每位学生都有他们自己需达到的水平和需满足的标准，并不是所有学生都在相同的学习水平或学习速度上。对每位学生来说，在交给他们的任务中付出最大努力是非常重要的。老师们有时候会通过给同学们布置不同的作业来进一步推进他们做的更好，如果学生有需要也会提供给他们额外的支持。我希望所有的学生在他们的所有的学科中不断得付出最大的努力。

　　Our weekly theme was “Working Hard for Me”, this theme was to encourage each student to be doing their own work and striving to take each chance to improve themselves. Whilst all students have content that their year level must complete and standards that must be met, not all students are at the same levels or work at the same pace. It is important that each student always be trying to do their best in every task they are given. Teachers will sometimes give students different work from their classmates to push them further if they are doing well, or to give them extra support if they need it. I hope all students continue to put their best efforts into all of their studies.

　　另外本周最精彩的部分是我们的万圣节Party，多元文化委员会组织了这次非凡的集会，在周二他们把一间教室变成了鬼屋。非常惊喜的看到学生们是如此的有创造性和有趣!特别提到10J班的Jerry同学与其他多元文化组织委员会的同学一起组织了如此棒的盛会。

　　Another highlight of the week was our Halloween Party, the Multicultural Committee organized a fantastic event and turned one of our classrooms into a haunted house on Tuesday afternoon. It was fantastic to see students being creative and having lots of fun! A special mention to Jerry from 10J who along with other members of the Multicultural Committee organized such a good event.
